International Recognition crowned to Ramakrishna Mission Residential College Alumnus

Prof. Parimal Misra, an alumnus of Ramakrishna Mission Residential College (1982 - 85 Batch, Chemistry Honours) has been honoured with the prestigious recognition FRSC by The Royal Society of Chemistry, London, United Kingdom on 28 October, 2016.

Prof (Dr.) Parimal Misra is Senior Professor and Dean, Dept. of Biology of Dr. Reddy's Institute of Life Sciences, Hyderabad. He has done his PhD work in Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata, India in the area of molecular biology and biochemistry and awarded Ph.D degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 1995. He was a visiting scientist of the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, Chicago in the Dept of Pathology. He worked in the area of transcriptional complex, co-factors, gene-regulation and signal transduction of various transcription factors related to stress induced diabetes and insulin resistance. Dr. Misra worked in Dr. Reddy's for more than 19 years in the areas of Metabolic Disorder, Inflammation and Genomics-Proteomics. He worked with the PPAR and AMPK group of Dr. Reddy's as Senior Director, Drug Discovery and Genomics-Proteomics and contributed to put five NCEs in different clinical phases including Balaglitazone, Ragaglitazar and AMPK activator. He has mentored more than 60 drug discovery scientists, Ph.D and post-docs. He has published 43 articles in scientific journals (including Nature Scientific Reports, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Journal of Pharmaceuticals and Experimental therapeutics, Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, Expert Opinion on Therapeutic Targets etc), authored two book chapters and published 15 international patents.

Reunion 2017

We are going to celebrate the 24-th reunion of our college on 25-th December, 2017 at our college premises. All ex-students are cordially requested to attend the program.
